Insurance Questions

What insurances do you accept?

We accept most insurance. The most common insurance companies we work with are Kaiser, Anthem Blue Cross, Aetna, Blue Shield, and Cigna. If your insurance company contracts with American Specialty Health, we likely are able to bill it. There are other, less common insurance companies we work with that are not listed above. To ensure we are in your insurance network, check your provider list with your insurance company.

What insurances do you not accept?

We do not take:

  • United Healthcare

  • Medicare

  • IEHP

  • Covered California

  • Anthem plans that contract with Regal Medical Group (RMG) or Primecare

What does it mean if I have a deductible?

Your deductible is the amount that you are responsible for paying before your insurance company will start covering your expenses. This means that your copay or co-insurance amount will be higher until your deductible is met.

How do I know what my copay is?

Your copay might differ from office to office. One way to find your copay or co-insurance amount is to call the number on the back of your insurance card. Ask the representative what your chiropractic benefits are. They will also be able to verify if we are in your network!

Are all the services in your office covered by my insurance?

Short answer, no. Regardless of how great your benefits are, we do things a little differently in our office. Massage therapy is NOT a covered benefit in our office. Our therapists are all independent contractors which means we are not allowed to bill your insurance for their services. Decompression is not a covered benefit on any insurance plan unfortunately. The cost of decompression, if you choose to have that treatment, is added on to your copay amount. Acupuncture is covered on some plans. Siham, our acupuncturist, will need to make sure she accepts your insurance before your visit.

Why does my insurance not cover my child who is under 12 years old?

Great question! All insurance companies stipulate that treatment is “medically necessary.” They do not recognize pediatric chiropractic as a medically necessary treatment yet. Your insurance benefits may state that your child is covered, but they will deny the coverage once the visit is billed. It’s confusing and not really fair but that’s insurance for you.

How much do you charge if I do not have insurance coverage?

  • First visit: $60

  • Follow-ups: $45

  • Decopression: $35

  • Massage depends on which therapist you see and how long your massage is. Please ask your therapist directly.

  • We offer discounts for military, first responders, and children under 13.
